Mission Statement
West County Softball Association is a recreational fastpitch softball program dedicated to the skill and social development of girls from ages 5 to 14 years old. Our goal is to make softball an enjoyable experience and bring girls together in friendship and competition.
Practices
Practice schedule will be handed out by your coach and starts in the first week of March. Typically, there will be 2 practices per week until games begin then it drops back to 1 practice or less, depending on coach/team availability.
Games
Games begin on or after opening ceremonies, usually the third weekend in March and end in mid May. There are approximately 12-18 games in the season, depending on level of play. We try our best to coordinate inter-league play at all levels of play, which means our teams will play against other recreational clubs in Sonoma County.
Teams
Teams are formed at each level (6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U) by a blind draw, with each player assigned to their respective age group. Balanced teams with regard to years of experience and skills level is the objective of the WCSA recreation club. Player’s level is determined by age on December 31st.
Uniforms
WCSA provides shirt and visor for all players. Players do need to provide their own pants/shorts, socks, glove, and cleats. Sliding pants and knee pads are required for 12U and 14U and recommended for 10U.
Coaches
All coaches are volunteers. Please be considerate of those who are donating their time for our players. All coaches, assistant coaches and managers must complete an application and code of conduct statement before the teams are selected. Any questions please see the Board President.
Sponsorship
West County Softball is a 501-3(c) non-profit, volunteer organization. Sponsorship is an important part of supporting our recreation program. Please see the sponsorship form for more information.
